American Conquistadors Ransack Whistler, Dominate Golf/Hockey Tournament
I flew up on Thursday from LA this weekend to Vancouver and then drove to Whistler Village this weekend to join up with my old Portland Saints teammates for our annual golf/hockey tournament. In the Portland, the two pictured above, are captains in their industries, pillars of their communities. In Whistler, they transform into masked madmen, top-of-the-ropes pile drivers, shock art practicioners, golf baller slayers and hockey champions. It’s really a quite remarkable change. Along the way there were running Mounties, near on-ice brawls and a lot of sobriety. (Well, two out of three isn’t bad, right?) Despite not picking up any points in Friday’s golf outing, we came out flying Saturday, dominating both of our games against teams from the Vancouver area, then handily defeating another team from Vancouver Island on Sunday, finishing in first place. The Americans took home the cup, which sure didn’t please the other nine Canadian teams in the tourney.
