Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Thanks to all of our friends and clients for your business and support in 2008, which proved to be a key year of transition for us. We added many LA-based clients and expanded our range of creative services.

We’re very excited to kick off 2009. Next month marks our 10-year anniversary of starting Zookeeper. A decade feels like a long time but in many ways, we’re just getting started.

December was hectic and busy month. We’ll have a bunch of new work and testimonials added to the website in the coming days, so stay tuned…

Zookeeper Illustrating and Designing New Science-Fiction Novel Cover

We’re currently in the process of creating the final illustration for the book cover for PyschoPop & The Enzyme Queens, a new science-fiction novel by Kent Smith. Set a 150 years in the future, PsychoPop is a wild ride through the imagination of a society plagued by bureaucracy, corruption and terrorism that invokes comparisons to Franz Kafka, Salvador Dali and Philip K. Dick. Pictured below is the sketch for the book cover...stop back next week to check out the finished illustration. We’ve also just completed proofing and editing the book, slated for publication in early 2009.

Zookeeper Designs and Develops New Website for Douglas Raub Design and Development

Douglas Raub Design + Development website

Client: Douglas Raub Design + Development
Industry: Construction and Design

From acquiring the domain name to launching the site, Zookeeper did it all for Douglas Raub Design + Development, a high-end custom homebuilder in Southern California. After creating their new brand identity and logo, we assembled all the content, including writing the copy, optimizing the site for search engines and directing the photo shoot. We plugged it all into a design that was created to be simple, elegant and exceptionally user-friendly. The site features a Flash portfolio movie and dozens of crisp, breathtaking photos of the firm’s work, imaging the company in the best possible light and positioning them to grow rapidly in the future.

Kings vs. Hurricanes

Friday night, I took in my first Kings game of the season when they faced off against the Carolina Hurricanes. LA has a young squad and barely made the minimum salary cap threshold at the start of the season, so season ticket sales have taken a bit of a hit. I was able to get phenomenal seats for only $15 from a friendly fellow out front. An exciting game that saw LA battle back and then win in OT. Always great taking in live pro hockey. Love the fact that there’s so much to do every night in LA.
