In the spring of 2000, Zookeeper sketched an idea for a poster of Ken Griffey Jr., who’d recently been traded to Cincinnati. Junior’s dad, Ken Griffey Sr., had been part of the World Champion Big Red Machine in the ‘70s so we wanted to capture a retro look with a Japanese movie-poster feel. The Godzilla-like poster showed an illustrated Junior looming ominously over his new city, intimidating pitchers.
