The largest independent shoe store on the West Coast, Johnny Sole needed a new ad campaign that captured the essence of their brand.
Launched in the spring of 2002, these ads were strategically placed in The Oregonian and alternative publications, like Willamette Week, The Mercury and Barfly Magazine, in their corresponding sections, i.e. “First Attraction” in movies, “Kill the Groupies” in music and “Sexy Singles” in personals.
The campaign also involved a guerrilla element, with the popular “Kill the Groupies” plastered on telephone poles throughout the city. The ads were also strategically placed inside electronic portals in over 100 Portland bars and clubs.
Zookeeper provided creative direction, photography and copywriting for all of these ads, which drove traffic and boosted sales.
